Obstetrics

Belle Vie works with the Pregnancy portal. Through this communication platform, we can keep you fully informed about your pregnancy and video call with you. You’ll also receive appointment reminders and your ultrasound scans will be shared with you. You can sign up using the invitation you’ll receive from us. It’s important that you use the pregnancy portal on a computer or laptop, rather than on a mobile phone.

Absolutely. First of all, it’s important to note that, to use the pregnancy portal, you must use a computer or laptop! A mobile phone won’t work for uploading information or ultrasound scans. Belle Vie has produced a user guide, complete with illustrations. Click here for the manual.

Contraception

In principle, anyone can register for contraception counselling at Belle Vie.

Whether you were pregnant at our practice or elsewhere, or whether you’ve previously had an IUD or Implanon fitted by a GP. Whether you’re coming in for a replacement, or if you haven’t had any children yet.

Once we’ve taken your medical history, we’ll discuss together which option is right for you.

The pill

We can prescribe the pill (oral contraception) during your follow-up appointment or our contraception consultation. We will inform your GP of your choice of contraception.

Different spirals

If, during your contraception consultation, you choose the Kyleena or Mirena hormonal IUD or the T-Safe copper IUD, we will write you a prescription, which you can use to collect the IUD from your chemist.

Fitting and removing an IUD
We can fit an IUD from 12 weeks after a natural birth or caesarean section. By then, the cervix and the womb will have recovered sufficiently following your delivery.

Before the insertion, we will measure your blood pressure and weight, and ask about your medical history. We will then insert the coil. This takes a few minutes and may be a little uncomfortable. You should therefore take 1000 mg of paracetamol or 200 mg of ibuprofen about three quarters of an hour before your appointment.

After insertion, you may experience a nagging sensation in your lower abdomen; this is usually harmless and short-lived. You may experience some irregular bleeding during the first few months. For detailed information on how the coil works, please refer to the patient information leaflet. We will give you a card containing details about the insertion and how long the coil can remain in place; please keep this in a safe place.

You can also come to us to have your coil removed or replaced.

Implanon

You can also come to us to have a hormonal implant fitted in your arm. This can be done from 6 weeks after giving birth. It will then protect you against pregnancy for 3 years.
Take 1000 mg of paracetamol or 200 mg of ibuprofen about three quarters of an hour before your appointment.

You need a prescription for both having an IUD fitted and having an Implanon inserted.

If you’re choosing to take the pill or want to start taking a new one, you’ll also need a prescription.

After discussing your choice, we will write out the prescription for you.

You can use this to collect the product you want from the chemist’s.

Check your insurance policy in advance to see which costs are covered and what you’ll have to pay yourself.

Most insurance policies cover the cost of having an IUD or Implanon fitted by a midwife.

You usually have to pay for the pill, the coil or Implanon yourself.

Directive 2025:
– Mirena / Kyleena €132
– T-Safe €75
– Implanon €112

Whether the coil itself and a follow-up ultrasound scan (approx. €56.77) are covered depends on your health insurer.

With supplementary insurance, you can usually claim back some or all of the cost from your health insurance provider.

To avoid unexpected costs, we advise you to check your health insurance cover in advance.

To have an IUD or Implanon fitted or removed, or to get a prescription for the pill, you can book an appointment via our receptionist on 073-5210764 or via the contact form. If you would like to have a new coil fitted, please let us know in good time so that we can issue a prescription and you can collect your new coil from the chemist’s.

Coaching

A coaching programme is not a set course. Often, after the first session, all sorts of insights emerge that ultimately shape the programme.

The conversation begins with the question:

  • What brings you here?
  • What else would you like to change in your life?

Ultimately, we’ll organise and summarise this together to get to the heart of the matter.

A topic will emerge that you’ll find yourself focusing on and paying attention to. We’ll look at HOW you can start to see things differently. During the sessions, you’ll be given tools and insights to help you with this.

We’ll finish with a summary, some homework and the date of our next meeting.

Judith Bekkers-Leijten, midwife and qualified coach.
Since April 2020, clients and their partners have been able to turn to Belle Vie Birth Care and Wellbeing. We deal with a wide range of questions and discussions. Mental health issues don’t have to be major or severe at all; they are always issues that Judith can help you with.

The consultations take place at the main premises of the Belle Vie Midwifery Practice, Rodenborchweg 4 in Rosmalen.

The cost of an individual session is €96.50 per hour. Sessions usually last between 1 and 1.5 hours.

Judith is a member of the VIV; Association for Integral Vitality Studies, a professional association for therapists.

Several health insurers cover this form of personalised, psychosocial support. Depending on your supplementary insurance, you may be eligible for reimbursement. The treatment falls under the category of alternative, psychosocial care. Please check with your health insurer to find out what options are available.

In the context of personal development, employers (through the company doctor or the HR department) are often willing to fund a coaching programme.

Are you self-employed? If so, you can claim coaching costs as business expenses.

No, partners are also welcome. For them, the period leading up to conception, pregnancy and childbirth can also be a life-changing experience. Sometimes, the change in roles within a relationship or family can have a significant impact. Coaching for the partner can also help in this regard.

What appealed to you most about this coaching session, and why?

After a difficult first birth and a tough postnatal period, I started working with Judith during my second pregnancy. For the first time in a long while, I felt that my sadness and anxiety were being heard. During our sessions, Judith showed great compassion whilst, at the same time, making me aware of my pitfalls in a pleasant and direct way. Judith’s calm and down-to-earth approach really appeals to me. She subtly holds up a mirror to you, helps you find your own answers and is cheerful. This leaves plenty of room for putting things into perspective and for humour. Furthermore, Judith is highly knowledgeable, and I never doubted her expertise for a second. She helped me enormously in revisiting my story, which enabled me to come to terms with my experience. Judith is also observant; she remembers details and uses them to tie everything together. She was able to draw on small details from earlier conversations at a later stage of the process. This makes you feel truly heard and seen. Finally, nothing is too out of the ordinary, which fosters an open conversation and makes me feel incredibly at ease with her.

How will you put what you’ve learnt in this coaching session into practice after the session? What specific steps will you take?

Thanks to these conversations, my sadness and anxiety have given way to strength and greater self-compassion. As a result, I now make more time for my own needs. I set boundaries and apply the ‘brains’ method (in my everyday life too 😊),

The objective has been achieved because…

During my labour, I felt at ease with the process, I am proud of my body, and I was able to respect my own boundaries. What’s more, my partner and I have come to understand each other better, and we found the birth of our second child a very pleasant experience.

Did the information give me a good idea of the process?

The process took shape during our discussions; each time, we put our heads together to work out what the next best step would be. That was nice. I had no expectations or preconceived ideas about how things would go at the start.

Finally, what feedback (compliments and tips) would you like to give?

Thank you very much for your calm approach and down-to-earth perspective. I hope you’ll be able to help many more women, men and families in this way. I’ve learnt an awful lot during this process, both in terms of the birth itself and beyond.

Ultrasound

If the scan is to be carried out before 13 weeks’ pregnancy, please do not go to the toilet for the last 2 hours before the scan so that your bladder is full. There is no need to drink extra fluids. The scan images will be clearer if, for 2 days before the scan, you do not apply body lotion to your stomach or use shower gel.

A transducer – a kind of camera – is held against your tummy. Sound waves are used to create images of the internal structures of the human body. This allows the baby to be seen inside the womb. This scan will not cause you any discomfort.

Ultrasound scans carried out very early in pregnancy are almost always internal, via the vagina.

No. The scans we arrange are for medical purposes; no photographs or videos may be taken of them.

Please come with your partner, but leave any young children and/or other people at home.

Of course, it’s lovely to see your unborn child. However, the scans we request are for medical reasons. Should any abnormalities be detected, we can address your questions straight away and explain the referral process for a treatment or support plan.

We ask for your understanding in this matter; performing and interpreting a medical ultrasound scan requires precision and concentration. A busy environment or distractions in the room can affect the quality of the scan. If you’d like to have a fun ultrasound scan, you may bring four people with you in addition to yourself.

Yes. At Belle Vie, we certainly pretos Performed at our main clinic. Both 2D and 3/4D scans are available.

Plan your own moment.

The main reason for having a fun ultrasound scan is simply to enjoy seeing your baby or to find out your baby’s sex. Several people are allowed to be present at fun ultrasound scans, provided that coronavirus restrictions permit it.

You can book an appointment through our assistants. They are available on weekdays from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm at 073 521 07 64

Preconception care

Anyone who is hoping to have a baby or has specific questions about getting pregnant is welcome.
Whether you’re young or older, whatever your background or lifestyle, and whether you’re thinking about the short term or the future, please get in touch via our contact form or book an appointment directly with our practice assistant on 073-5210764

The cost of the fertility consultation is €67.60 (for 30 minutes)

Most health insurers cover most of the cost. Check with your insurer in advance to find out what your cover entails.

Pretecho

Depending on your preferences and what you’d like to see, we use specific weeks of pregnancy:

  • An early fun scan can be carried out between 6 and 16 weeks of pregnancy
  • A gender-determination ultrasound scan can be carried out from 15 weeks onwards
  • The best time to have a 3/4D ultrasound scan is from 25 weeks onwards

You can let our practice assistant know what sort of fun ultrasound scan you’d like to have. She’ll work with you to find the right time for it.

elle Vie works with the Pregnancy portal.

For a gender reveal scan, it’s best to book an appointment from 16 weeks onwards. For a 3D/4D scan, we recommend having the fun scan between 25 and 26 weeks.

If, during your first fun scan, your baby isn’t clearly visible or their sex cannot be clearly determined, we’ll arrange a new appointment free of charge. If you choose not to return for a 3/4D scan, you’ll pay a one-off fee of €64.50. If you do return, the cost is €91.
